Npower have been rumbled! Over the past few days a top tax expert has been investigating their accounts - paid for by 38 Degrees member. Today the results of that investigation are splashed across the Sun newspaper - where it will be read by millions.

We've got them. They're funneling profits made in the UK through a shell company in Malta. It looks like this has helped them dodge £60 million in tax over the last four years!

Great news! We've stopped the government's plan to spy on everyone's internet use. Yesterday, Nick Clegg announced he would not allow the 'snoopers charter' to go ahead.
38 Degrees members worked hard to stop these plans. Nearly 200,000 members signed the petition and thousands wrote to MPs, the parliamentary committee and many more met up locally to deliver the petition to their MP.

The government has announced that it will withdraw and re-write the rules to force local GPs to privatise more health services. The 38 Degrees petition was even named in Parliament during the debate!
This looks like this is an important milestone towards a victory for our huge people-powered campaign against these plans.
But there's still work to do to make sure the new wording doesn't allow for any back door privatisation. We can't afford to give up now when we are so close.

Jeremy Hunt is trying to use new powers, hidden within last year's controversial NHS laws, to force local GPs to privatise more health services.
Usually these kinds of rules get quickly rubber-stamped by Parliament. This time, we need to get MPs and Lords to stand up to Hunt and block his plans.
Hunt is breaking promises made to MPs when NHS laws were voted through last year. If we generate a huge, public outcry to put pressure on the politicians who clung on to those promises last time the government attacked our NHS, we can convince them to stop these new laws.
