At the prestigious CNN MultiChoice African Journalist 2012 Awards in Lusaka Zambia this weekend Megan Small-Lubke and Clive Mtshali took the honours in the medical category/TV feature category.

Their story exposed the plight of elephantiasis sufferer Nana Ntobela, who for years was trapped in her bed in a rural village in KZN. The 3rd Degree team persuaded a private healthcare company to bring her to Joburg and to treat her for free. After four months of gruelling physiotherapy, and ground-breaking surgery, Nana can now walk and leads a normal life.
