There will be a table set up from 1-6PM at Southgate Community Day in Reston April 20th to raise funds for Smitty! It will be staffed by South Lakes football players, there will be a donation box, and the Southgate's after school program's fashion club will be selling some of their hand made jewelry and hair accessories. All Proceeds go to Daniel. Spread the word!

Daniel Smith is a beloved 26-year-old, energetic, compassionate, wonderful and strong young man from Reston, Virginia who was recently diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, Metastatic Rhabdomyosarcoma, stage 4. Rhabdo is an extremely aggressive cancer. Daniel has already undergone one surgery to remove a smaller mass and will need more surgery down the road. He is currently being treated at Fairfax Hospital and due to the huge mass in his abdomen, is required to have a nasogastric tube in place to keep his stomach empty due to the pressure of the mass on the organs and arteries in his abdomen. He has begun the aggressive (and lengthy) chemotherapy regimen that will come at great cost to him and his family, both emotionally and financially. Daniel’s pain is managed with IV pain medication and all nutrition is also through his IV port. This illness was discovered and treatment begun very suddenly.
As a Son, Brother, Grandson, Uncle, Athletic coach, companion and wonderful friend, Daniel has touched many lives in his 26 years. His kindness, caring, and commitment to others has touched so many.
